As the festive season approaches, it’s the perfect time to sprinkle holiday cheer throughout your home with cute DIY decorations! One simple and creative project is transforming a basic, round Kleenex box into a darling piece of Christmas décor. With Stampin’ Up!’s Merry Bold & Bright Designer Series Paper (DSP), you can easily elevate this everyday item into a fun addition to your bathroom or side table.
For this project, you’ll need:
- Round Kleenex box (I found mine at Target in a pack of 4)
- Stampin’ Up!’s Merry Bold & Bright Designer Series Paper
- Scissors
- Stampin’ Seal adhesive
- Ribbons, embellishments, or additional decorative elements
The first thing I did was measure the height of my box. Then I cut my 12″ x 12″ DSP piece, wrapped it around the box, and trimmed off any extra. PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this project. It will help you to visualize exactly how I did this project, and then you can follow along with my instructions even easier!
Next, I used my Stampin’ Seal on one end of the DSP, and rolled my “tube” of Kleenex around to stick it together. It worked so easily! There will be a slight overlap as you wrap around the box.
Next, I used the Tailor Made Tags dies with Sweet Sorbet cardstock, and cut out the largest tag die. I used the Walk in the Forest DSP, and die cut out one of the trees using the Merriest Trees die set. These trees are so playful and cute, I just love them! And, it was so easy since I didn’t even need to stamp the tree myself.
The sentiment is from the Beary Cute stamp set, and I stamped it with the coordinating Sweet Sorbet ink. I cut it into two pieces, so that I could layer them playfully on top of the tree at different angles. It looks so cute!
The star on top of the tree is also from the Merriest Trees die set, and I cut it out with Crushed Curry cardstock. I also “painted” it with the Wink of Stella glitter pen, which makes it sparkle and shine! That’s exactly what that little star needed.
The final touch was adding on the shiny red gems from the Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs pack, which I sprinkled all over the tree. It gave it just the perfect finishing touch. I added our White Iridescent Ribbon onto the top of the tag, and tied a bow with the 2022-24 In Color Baker’s Twine pack. The Lemon Lime Twist twine looks perfect with all the different colors in the paper.
Well, what do you think? Isn’t it darling? I’m putting mine in my powder room bathroom immediately! I hope you’ll give this project a try, putting your own spin on it! You could use so many different papers, ribbons, and embellishments, the ideas are absolutely endless.
