Have you ever made your own Christmas tree ornaments, using our beautiful Stampin’ Up! products? I love making items for my home using my paper crafting products. Our colors all coordinate and go together so well, which is perfect when I’m trying to match a ribbon to my ink, or to my Designer Series Papers. I hope you love this project!
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this ornament. I did my best to explain it here, but you can see it in action on the video, which might be easier!
I started out by choosing my base. I used a 17-inch Staked Sign from Walmart, and tore off the wooden stake so that I just had the “frame” portion left. I measured the opening of the little frame, and then cut a piece of the gorgeous Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper to fit perfectly into the opening. I love this paper! It was handdrawn and painted by our amazing artists at Stampin’ Up!, and you can tell the amazing artistic abilities of these talented people when you look at this gorgeous paper!
Next, I pulled out my Waverly Antique Wax, and stained the outside “frame” portion of the sign, as well as the adorable little wooden Christmas tree ornament I got from a pack at Hobby Lobby. The dark stain added the perfect depth I needed for this project, so that it didn’t look unfinished. Amazon doesn’t carry the Waverly brand, but the one I have linked here will work just the same.
I attached the cute stained ornament onto the sign using my Surebonder hot glue gun. I have this particular one in my Amazon shop as well, because it’s such a good one! It has a really small, pointy tip, which is perfect for smaller projects like this one. It takes the mini hot glue sticks, and it really works well. CLICK HERE if you’d like to grab this glue gun!
I grabbed a few different sprigs of greenery from my stash, and these were from the Dollar Tree. I wound some jute twine around the stems, so that they would stay together firmly, and then hot glued these onto the top of the frame.
The Real Red & Garden Green Ribbon Combo Pack was perfect for this project, and I used the Real Red to tie a bow and hot glue it to the top of the frame. Then, I used the Sweet Sorbet Baker’s Twine to tie on 3 red mini jingle bells that I found at the Dollar Tree. By using 3 bells, it made it look like holly berries, which looked really great with this paper!
The final touch was making a hanger, so that it can be hung from my tree. I grabbed some wooden beads that I had in my stash, that were already wood stained, and strung them onto jute twine. I hot glued this onto the back, and voila! The ornament was finished.
Tell me what you think! You should definitely give it a try.
