It’s super fun to give treats during the holidays, especially when they are packaged up in a cute bag or box! This box is sure to get a smile…it’s so adorable!
I saw this idea online about a year ago, and I can’t find where I saw it. So, I recreated it on my own! What do you think?
PLEASE CLICK HERE to see the video where I made this box. That way, you can see where you need to trim the box pieces in order to make it work. You can pause the video as you work, so that you can follow along and make one for yourself.
I used Basic White cardstock for the snowman body, and cut out a full die. Next, I trimmed off one side completely, since I didn’t need it, and the other side I trimmed off so that I would have little tabs to fold in to make the bottom of the box. At this point, I also trimmed off 1/8″ off of each side of the snowman’s body, so that he’ll be a little “skinnier” than the hat. Otherwise, his body would be the same size as his hat, and it wouldn’t slide into the hat.
Next, I pulled out my Taco Fiesta stamp set, and used one of the little faces to stamp onto the snowman body. I used my Black Memento ink, and stamped his eyes and smile. I trimmed out a little carrot nose by hand, using Pumpkin Pie cardstock, and glued the carrot directly over the smile so you can’t see it. It fits perfectly!
I punched out a 1″ circle punch (which we don’t sell anymore, unfortunately) to put down into the base of the box once I had it all glued together, which gave the little tabs something to adhere onto in order to make it close. Can you see how it’s coming together? You could use any kind of adhesive you’d like here, but I chose to use my Liquid Glue so that I could slide and manipulate the box into place.
For the snowman’s hat, I used my Basic Black cardstock to die cut out just a portion of the die. It is perfect! I glued this together, and added a ribbon accent at the top.
After sliding the hat onto the snowman’s body, all he needed was one last accent–a scarf! I stamped the scarf image from the Beary Cute stamp set onto Basic White cardstock, using Balmy Blue ink. I cut it out by hand, and then added it onto the body with Liquid Glue.
And, voila! He’s finished! This little box would fit about 4 Hershey Kisses or Rolo’s, and it sure is CUTE!
