It’s so much fun to make little treat holders for the holidays, isn’t it? There are so many fun reasons to give little gifts at this time of year, and when you have a design that works to make fun candy pouches without too much effort, it’s worth it to make lots, have them on hand, and give them away during the entire season!
Today’s design uses the vintage Sentimental Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP) paper pack, and I think it is perfect for this little candy holder! PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this project, so that you can see exactly how to cut and fold the paper.
I started out with a piece of DSP measuring 3″ x 9″, scored along the 9″ side at 3″ and 6″. I also used a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock, and cut and scored it the exact same way.
Next, I cut the ends of the papers at a slant, which you can see if you watch the video. I then turned the paper 90 degrees, and adhered the Shaded Spruce piece to the DSP piece.
I put a piece of Basic Beige cardstock in the middle, measuring 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″, and stamped one of the sentiments from the Greetings of the Season stamp set, using Cherry Cobbler ink. I laid a piece of Ghirardelli chocolate in the middle, and then folded the pouch closed (please see video to see how to do this). You definitely need a flat piece of candy for this design, or maybe even a tea bag. Something flat and thin!
For the outside decoration, I die cut one of the circles from the Spotlight on Nature die set, using Basic Beige cardstock. I cut the little stocking out directly from the DSP, and then punched out some sprigs of greenery using the Bough Punch. This greenery is punched out of Shaded Spruce, Old Olive, and Basic White cardstock. I also tucked a few of the gorgeous Golden Woven Leaves behind the greenery, to give a little nod to the vintage, gold feel.
Finally, I added a Cherry Cobbler bow, and a tiny gem. I love how this turned out!

I don’t understand how you know where to cut the paper

If you watch the video, you can see that you cut from the outside corner up to the score line on each side. It’s definitely easiest to watch the video for that part!
