I have wanted to make this card for a long time. It has been in the back of my mind, and I finally made it. I love it. It’s simplistic, monochromatic, and straight to the point. It says all that I need to say in one single word. PRAY.
There is so much to pray about in this world, isn’t there? Every single day, I feel like my prayer list gets longer and longer. I have precious people in my life whom I pray for every day, as well as deep, heartfelt circumstances in my life and the journey I am walking through each day. And, the thing is this…no one knows what you’re walking through. You might look bright and sunny on the outside, but what’s going on in the inside? What worries you at night, what overwhelms you during the day, and what things make you feel overlooked, abandoned, or unloved? Who is that special person on your mind who you just can’t stop thinking and worrying about? I’ve got mine, and I’m sure you do, too.
PRAY.
I just need to keep reminding myself to keep praying. Each and every day. More often than not, it’s each and every moment. I have to choose to keep praying instead of worrying. Keep praying instead of feeling overwhelmed. Keep praying instead of losing hope. PRAY.
I made the base of this card with Basic White cardstock, measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″, folded in half. On top of this, I layered a piece of Boho Blue cardstock, measuring 5-3/8″ x 4″. Layered on top of that is a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, which I die cut out using the largest rectangle from the Deckled Rectangles dies. And then finally, my watercolor paper measures 4-7/8″ x 3-1/2″.
I spritzed my watercolor paper before stamping onto it, because I really wanted my image to look watery and blurry. I wanted an uneven, impressionistic look when I stamped the image of the World onto it. It makes the world image look exactly like I feel on the inside sometimes…blurred by my tears and blurred by my ability to make things “right” in my world. I cannot make things right on my own! {PRAY.}
I stamped the image of the Watercolor World map using Boho Blue ink, and used my sponge dauber to add some Night of Navy accents. PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. It shows you exactly how I inked up this large stamp, and then sponged on the accent color.
I pulled out my Foam Adhesive Sheets, and added Night of Navy cardstock onto one of them before die cutting out my letters. I used the Mini Alphabet dies to cut out my letters, which were the perfect size for this card. Instead of having to cut up lots of little pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the word, I was able to just cut out the letters with the Foam Adhesive sheets, making the entire process so much quicker and easier.
Finally, I added on a few of my favorite gems, the Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels. I’m going to miss these like crazy when they retire this month! They’re absolutely my favorite gem ever, adding on just the right amount of sparkle to finish my projects.
I know the overall layout of this card is unbelievably simple, but it’s truly all I wanted to express. Sometimes art is like that–it just spills out of you and says what it says, all on its own. I hope it touches you today, like it has me.
