Are you looking for the perfect baby gift? Do you enjoy giving gifts that are homemade, and possibly a little different than the usual gift of baby clothes? Every new mama receives all kinds of adorable clothing for her baby, and it’s so hard to resist shopping for them! I remember when my kids were tiny, I wanted to buy the whole store! But if you’re willing to put in a little bit of time and love, you can be sure that the expectant mother is going to LOVE this adorable gift of Photo Cards.
Have you seen photo cards before? Do you know what they are?
I remember thinking, “There’s no way I’ll ever forget how old my baby was when I took this adorable picture!” But…then time goes by. Lots and lots of time. And your memory!! Ha Ha! And then, here you are putting together a scrapbook when your child is now 15, or trying to pull out some cute baby photos to show at your child’s graduation party or wedding, and you have no idea how old your child was when you took that photo! I’VE BEEN THERE!
That’s what photo cards are for. You lay your adorable little baby on a blanket, and then lay the photo card next to him or her, and snap your photo. Voila! Now you’ll forever remember the age that your baby was when you took that photo!
I absolutely LOVE the adorable Zany Zoo stamp set, as well as the coordinating Designer Series Paper. The little animals in this bundle are just to die for! They continually make me laugh. As I’ve been making cute cards, suddenly this idea came to me. “Why not make a batch of baby photo cards?”
So, here we are! I made cards up to 6 months, but you could easily make cards up to 12 months. Bundle up a set of these adorable cards, and you’ve got the cutest gift ever!
For my cards, I used the Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad to stamp the animals, and then colored them in with our Stampin’ Blends. I’m not going to list the colors of Blends markers that I used, because you could really use whatever colors you’d like! I used a huge assortment, and had fun with the project.
I also used the adorable Alphabet a la Mode dies to cut out each number, and paired it with the Classic Letters stamp set for the word “MONTH.” Didn’t it turn out perfectly??
As you can see in months 3, 4, and 6, I didn’t stamp those images. I cut those out by hand, directly from the Designer Series Paper. I mounted some of them up on the circles from my favorite die set, the Stylish Shapes dies.
Here are the colors of cardstocks that I used:
Month 1: Fresh Freesia (month number is the same)
Month 2: Petal Pink (month number is the same)
Month 3: Pool Party (month number is Lemon Lime Twist)
Month 4: Petal Pink (month number is the same)
Month 5: Lemon Lime Twist (month number is Crumb Cake)
Month 6: Lemon Lolly (month number is Pool Party)
Obviously, there is so much you could do with these! You could add embellishments, such as the Iridescent Pearls or some of our beautiful sequins. You could add sparkle to some of the images with the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. Or you could add bows with some of our gorgeous ribbon! The possibilities are endless.
What do you think? Will you try making a gift like this for the expectant parents in your life?
Hop over to see a different project that I made, using the same stamp set. This project is full of bright colors, instead of the pastels, and it gives the suite a completely different look!
