Have you checked out the Beary Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP) yet? It’s adorable!! I haven’t played with it as much as I should, so I pulled it out today, determined to make a card. And, it wasn’t hard at all, because the polar bear printed piece called my name! It “had” to be featured on a card front. So, this is what I came up with:
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. What do you think? Which background for the focal point do you like better?
My card base is a regular 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ card, folded in half. Layered on top of this is a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, measuring 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″.
Next, I chose several prints out of the package of DSP that all coordinated. There are some that would not look great with this layout, so I just kept looking until I found 4 designs that coordinated well together. I love the Balmy Blue, White, and Navy combination, don’t you? It definitely brings the “snowy” vibes! These pieces of DSP measure 1-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ (cut 3 of these), and 1-1/2″ x 3-7/8″ (bottom piece).
Layered on top of all of this is the largest circle die, cut out of Basic White cardstock from the Stylish Shapes dies. I use this die set ALL THE TIME. If you follow me at all, you’ll definitely know this about me! It’s such a staple in my craft supplies.
The cute polar bear is cut directly out of the DSP. I didn’t even have to stamp! There were several different bears I could have chosen, but this guy with the Christmas presents on his back was just perfect for this card! I layered him onto the die cut circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and then put some “shadows” under his feet using the Smoky Slate Blends.
Underneath the circle, I added a couple of little pieces of Balmy Blue Sparkle Ribbon. It is soooo velvety soft, and the sparkle is fantastic! It looks more sparkly in person than it does in the picture!
The final touch is the sentiment, stamped using Real Red ink. I cut the sentiment into 2 pieces, arranging them at a fun slant to give it some personality.
What do you think? This paper is so much fun, and I’ll definitely be creating with it again soon!
