Crisp, clean cards are super attractive to the eye! There is something about a clean and simple card layout that is always pleasing to look at, and today’s card is exactly that. I thought it would be fun to use all the different colors of green cardstocks that Stampin’ Up! carries, and lay them out in an ombre effect for a pretty card layout.
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. It is really fun and simple!
Today’s card base is a tiny bit smaller than a regular card, measuring 5-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ and folded in half. I made it just a tad smaller than usual, so that the strips of color would be perfect all the way down the card. Each card strip is 3/4″ wide, making them each measure 3/4″ x 4-1/4″. I covered the entire Basic White card base with Stampin’ Seal adhesive, then laid down the colors one at a time until the entire card base was covered.
Here is the order of shades of green that I used: Soft Seafoam, Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Garden Green, and Shaded Spruce.
After adhering down all of the strips of cardstock, I trimmed the edges and pulled out my Decorative Trees die set. I die cut out the large tree from the middle of the card in order to create a “window,” which looks really cool.
I then cut another solid Garden Green tree from the same die, and glued it to the inside of the card. I then die cut out some of the fancy décor for the tree, using one of the neat dies in the die set, using the Festive Glimmer Paper. I glued this onto the Garden Green tree, using Liquid Glue.
Finally, I stamped the sentiment on the inside of the card using Real Red ink, and then sprinkled on a few of the gold Metallic Gems onto the front of the card. I also die cut out a star from Gold Foil paper, and glued this to the top of the tree on the inside of the card. It was an easy card to make, but so much fun!
