I made another card like yesterday’s creation, but I changed it up to be a Christmas tree instead of an ornament! I used the exact same technique, but switched up the stencil shape and created something new.
This is such a fun card to make with kids or grandkids. I hope you’ll take the idea and run with it, and get those kids crafting this holiday season! I got tons of feedback yesterday on how much you loved the ornament card, so I thought it would be fun to make another shape.
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch how I made this card. You can see the step-by-step for the entire project!
The “stencil” shape I used today is something I just hand cut using a hobby knife and a ruler. Totally easy and nothing exact about it! I just cut out the shape of a triangle, and voila! My stencil was ready to go.
The Stampin’ Write Markers I used in today’s project were: Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Shaded Spruce, and Old Olive. They look great together!
I laid down my stencil onto a piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. I made random lines in all different directions, using all of the different colors of markers, until my stencil shape was “full.” Next, I die cut out a little star from Gold Foil cardstock using the Decorative Trees Dies, and mounted it onto the top of the tree using a Stampin’ Dimensional.
I “decorated” the tree using the Decorative Trees stamp set and Real Red ink, but your kids could also use their markers and decorate the tree freehand. Either way would be wonderful!
Finally, I sprinkled on some “ornaments” onto the tree, which are our beautiful Iridescent Discs (in red). Don’t they look great? I added a trunk to the bottom of the tree using Early Espresso ink, and then stamped a sentiment onto the inside of the card using Real Red ink.
I layered the entire card onto a Real Red cardstock piece, measuring 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″, and then layered that onto a Basic White card base measuring 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and folded in half. Easy peasy!
I hope you’ll get on board and give this fun technique a try! CLICK HERE to hop over to yesterday’s entry, to check out the same card technique, except a different shape!
