Stampin’ Up!’s Zany Zoo collection continues to be adorable! I have made quite a few cute projects with this stamp set, as well as the coordinating Designer Series Paper (DSP), and there is still so much I could do with it! Have you gotten this set yet? Have you been enjoying it? I sure hope so!
This card was made exclusively with the DSP. The only image I stamped was the “Happy Birthday” sentiment! The rest was all from the DSP, especially this cute little Koala bear.
This card design is an off-set Gatefold Card. Instead of folding in the center, it folds off to one side, which is a fun twist on the traditional Gatefold Card layout. Do you like it? I started off with an 8-½” x 5-1/2” piece of cardstock for the base, and I used Pool Party for my Koala card. I scored this piece at 1-1/2″, and 5-3/4″. Then I added the DSP designs that I liked to the card front, and here I used two different (but coordinating) black and white prints. I love both of these prints!
Finally, I added the main focal point to the front of the card. I used the Stylish Shapes dies, which is seriously one of my favorite die sets ever! I die cut one of the circles out of Petal Pink cardstock, and adhered it to the right-hand flap of the card. When you make this card, take care not to put adhesive on the entire circle…you will glue your card closed!

If you look at the back of the DSP, you will see that there are so many different animals you can choose from for this card! I chose to cut out the Koala bear, because he is just so cute. Yes, you have to cut out these little guys by hand, but the final effect is totally worth it! The Zany Zoo dies provides dies for the animals that are in the stamp set, but not all of the animals that are pictured on the DSP. But, that’s OK! I got out my Paper Snips and cut him out, along with the little cupcakes that he is juggling!
The Koala and the cupcakes are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals, which helps give the front of the card some dimension. I love Stampin’ Dimensionals! And the sentiment was stamped onto the little white banner piece, which is one of the dies in the Zany Zoo die set, with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
Finally, the bow was adhered with a Mini Glue Dot, and it is the beautiful Pool Party ⅜” Grosgrain Ribbon. It is a lovely, silky ribbon that is super easy to tie into a nice-looking bow!
As a finishing touch, I did a quick “wash” of the Wink of Stella glitter pen on the cupcakes. You can’t really see it in the photograph, but you can see the shimmer and sparkle in person! It added just a little “something” to the card.
Have fun creating with all of the cute little animals in this DSP!
