Are you ready for sunshine?? I AM!! Summer is my favorite time of year, and this watermelon stamp set is reminding me that summer WILL come! ha ha!
The Watercolor Melon stamp set is one of the FREE items you can choose during Sale-A-Bration 2024, which ends at the end of February. I love that it’s a Distinktive stamp design, which means that it isn’t just a complete, bold image. Instead, the stamp is made so that there are “highs” and “lows” in the image, making it look like it has texture and depth. Isn’t it beautiful the way it stamps?
This is a simple card layout, which is my favorite kind! I can see how you could use lots of different papers to achieve this same look, but make completely different cards. For this card, I used the Bee Mine Designer Series Paper (DSP), as well as the Bee My Valentine stamp set. I love how this paper has these bright and cheerful reds and yellows, which I thought would be fun to use with the summery watermelon images!
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. It shows you exactly, step by step, how I made this card.
I started off with a regular card base made with Basic White cardstock (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″). On top of this, I layered a piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. I adhered this piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals, in order to give it some depth.
Layered on top of this are 3 strips of DSP, and they all measure 1/2″ x 4″. I chose patterns that looked good together, as well as ones that would go with the reds and greens of the watermelon slices.
Next, I stamped the different watermelon pieces, using Sweet Sorbet and Garden Green inks. I punched them out with the coordinating Modern Oval punch, which fits these images perfectly. I layered these onto the card base, using Stampin’ Dimensionals for the front pieces so that they looked layered.
For the sentiment, I used a longer sentiment from the Bee My Valentine stamp set, but I stamped it and then trimmed out just the words that I wanted to use. It’s fun to make your own sentiments! I used Sweet Sorbet ink, and layered the words on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The final splash was a few gems from the Adhesive-Backed Iridescent Disc pack, which are so fantastic. They’re metallic, but they’re also completely flat so that they don’t add any bulk to your card. I love them! They came out with the Holiday Mini Catalog, but they still remain available online-only.
I hope you enjoyed this bright and cute card. It was so simple to make!
