Animal prints are so trendy right now, and I love that our Stampin’ Up! products are always right on trend! The foil “Like an Animal” Designer Series Paper in the current Mini Catalog is stunning, and I was able to jazz it up a little bit more using just a simple blending brush and ink.
Check out the video that shows you exactly how I jazzed up this Designer Series paper. It is such an easy technique, and yet makes a huge difference from the original design! Would you have even guessed that this paper started out with a white background? Honestly, the blending brush gave the paper a complete transformation, and I absolutely love how it turned out.
All you have to do is cut out a piece of the Cheetah/Leopard printed paper, and lay it on a scratch piece of paper. Next, grab your blending brush and dip it into your Black Memento ink pad. Start blending the black color onto the printed paper, dipping back into your black ink pad over and over again. This will take a bit of time to keep swirling the ink onto the paper, so that it gets nice and dark. I like to rub the Blending Brush in a circular motion to help it make a really nice, blended color instead of looking like streaks of color. You can keep doing this over and over again, until it is as dark of a shade of black as you’d like. I wanted to make sure that mine was pretty solid, so that you couldn’t really see any of the white through it anymore.
I also used the beautiful Gold & Vanilla ⅜” Satin Edged Ribbon on this card, which was carried over from the holiday Mini catalog. It’s so elegant, that I thought it really complimented the elegance of the foil print on the paper.
I used the Double Oval Punch for the sentiment on this card, which was absolutely perfectly sized for this sentiment. I punched the scalloped oval portion out of the 12” x 12” Brushed Metallic Cardstock, and then sprinkled on a few of the gorgeous Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels to finish off the card. As if the card needed a little more sparkle! Well, I think cards always need a little extra sparkle! It was the perfect touch.
So, tell me if you’ve used this Like an Animal Designer Series Paper yet. I feel like there are so many creative ways we could use it, but I haven’t used it yet as much as I should! There is a giraffe print, a zebra print, and some prints that use silver foil instead of the gold. Have a play with it and let me know what you come up with! I would love to see!
