The Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper (DSP) is so fun, funky, whimsical, and colorful! Its bright, cheery colors make me smile, and I love that there are so many patterns, it is easy to mix and match all different color combinations. And, because the papers are so fun, it’s super easy to make a quick, easy card that is fun to pop in the mail!
Have you tried the new Bubble Bath color by Stampin’ Up! yet? This darling, baby pink pastel color is just the best! This pink has a blue undertone, instead of a yellow one (like Petal Pink does), so it is just the perfect pastel pink, in my opinion! And, this is the pink that is featured in the Delightfully Eclectic DSP, so of course I had to use it!
The fold on this card is also a fun one that’s super easy. I don’t know the technical name of the fold, but I call it a “book fold” because it has a spine like a book. Your card base (in this case, Basic White) is 4-1/4″ x 11″. Then, score on the long side at 5-1/2″ and 6-1/2″. This gives you 1″ for your “book spine.”
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. You can see exactly how I folded and then glued down the book spine, to create the card base.
After you have your card base scored, you can layer it however you’d like! I chose to use some Bubble Bath cardstock (spine = 7/8″ x 4-1/8″, card front = 4-1/8″ x 4-3/8″) for my base layer, then I added on the pink & white striped DSP print on the spine (3/4″ x 4″), and the strawberry printed DSP on the card front (4″ x 4-3/16″).
Before layering on the main piece for the card front, I first heat embossed a sentiment with white embossing powder. The sentiment I chose is from the Good Feelings stamp set, which I love because of the large-sized sentiments. It is fun that I was able to decorate the front of this card only with a sentiment! Of course, you could always add flowers or other embellishments, but I am a simple crafter, and I love to make quick & easy cards!
The ribbon I chose is from a 3-pack. I love that it has a tiny silver threading on the edges, giving it just a bit of sparkle and interest. And finally, adding on a few gems is the finishing touch!
Have you tried a “book fold” card before? I know this fold has been out there for a long time, and it’s fun to go back to the basics! I hope you give it a try.
