Happy 250th Birthday, America!

“This is your birthday song, it isn’t very long!” This fun little phrase that is common in America is now made into a STAMP! Isn’t that funny?! I love it! The Birthday Song stamp set is SO cute, and I had a lot of fun using it in this week’s Episode 2 of the Great North American Stampin’ Show. If you missed it, PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch!

Our challenge was to use page 47 of the catalog for our layout inspiration, PLUS we had to use Red, White and Blue for America’s 250th birthday. I thought I did a good job, combining both challenges into one card!

I actually made 2 versions of the same card, using all the same colors: Blueberry Bushel, Real Red, and Smoky Slate. The card base is the typical 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, folded in half, and I put the card front through the embossing machine using the new Swirls of Magic embossing folder. It really adds a festive touch to the card front!

I used the Balloon Festoon stamp set to create my background, and I cut a hole out of the front using the 2nd largest Stylish Shapes circle.

The flamingoes are colored with Poppy Parade, Pool Party, and Peach Pie Stampin’ Blends markers. I love how it looks when you color around the outer edge of your image with the Light Pool Party marker…it creates some amazing depth to the image, helping it pop off the page!
