I’m really enjoying the Autumn Leaves product suite this year! I love Fall décor and crafts, and any time there is a leaf stamp set or dies available, I’m all in! Have you snagged this bundle yet? If you get the stamps, you definitely need to have the dies, as well!
This card started off with a regular Crumb Cake card base, measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and folded in half. Crumb cake is the best neutral card base color, in my opinion! It especially goes so well with all of the colors of Fall, no matter what ink colors you end up actually using on your card.
Next, I die cut out the second-largest of the Deckled Rectangles dies using Basic White cardstock. It is the perfect layering size for a card base, as you can see! And, it looks so cool because it kind-of looks “ripped,” instead of having exactly straight lines. It gives the card a cool, natural feel. Especially once I put it through the Stampin’ Die Cut & Emboss machine, using the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder! This folder is only available online; it’s not printed in any catalogs. So, I definitely wanted to point it out to you so that you can grab it while it’s available! The detail on this embossing folder is just gorgeous. I absolutely LOVE it.
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. It helps you see exactly how to do the inking technique I’m going to attempt to describe here! It’s so much easier to watch me do it, than it is to read about it.
The focal point of this card is 2 die-cut leaves, which I stamped onto Basic White cardstock and die cut out with the coordinating Autumn Leaves dies. I used the Sponge Daubing technique here, which is super simple, yet it really elevates the look of the card!
For the first leaf, I inked it up in Old Olive ink, and daubed Copper Clay onto the edges before stamping. For the second leaf, I inked it up in Crushed Curry ink, and daubed on some Cherry Cobbler before stamping. Both leaves look completely different from one another, yet they look just like Fall! So beautiful!
The sentiment was stamped with Copper Clay ink, and the final touch was adding a “double bow” of our Linen Thread and some of the beautiful, sparkly Adhesive-Backed Solid Gems. I love how tiny some of these gems are!
The simple elegance of this card makes it stand out on its own! I hope you’ll grab some Sponge Daubers and try this technique. All items used for this card are linked below so you can find them easily. Happy Fall!
