Have you used the Sweet Songbirds stamp set yet? I absolutely love that it came with a coordinating punch, making it super easy to add the cutest little birds to your card fronts. This set was new last year, in the 2022-23 Annual Catalog, but it was so popular that it carried over to this year as well! I’m so glad I was able to use it for my May card class. Everyone loved it!
The Lemon Lime Twist Designer Series Paper (DSP) on this card is from the Brights collection of 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper. There are so many cute designs in this paper, it was hard to choose which one to use! I layered it behind the main focal point of the card, and it was just perfect.
The “scene” is all stamped from the stamp set. I love that the stamp set includes all of the little “parts” to make a scene…including a tiny beak stamp for the bird, as well as two different sets of bird legs pointing different directions! Ha ha!
If you look closely, you can see that I double-stamped the leaves on this card. I did this so that it would give some color variation to the leaves. I really think it helps give dimension when you can double-stamp images like this, and it fills in the gaps and makes the tree look more full.
Click here to watch the video where I made this card. It shows you exactly how I stamped the leaves and put together the little bird. It’s helpful to see it in action instead of just reading about it!
The bird is stamped with Tahitian Tide ink. Have you created with this color yet? It is such a bright, sunshiney color and I have fallen in love! And, if you look closely, you can see that the wing is added by punching out the same color of cardstock and added on! It gives some dimension to the bird, and it’s perfect! It would look really cute if you colored the wing with the Wink of Stella glitter pen, or even punched it out of some glittery specialty paper or a coordinating printed DSP. Wouldn’t that be cute?
Finally, I added the wooden sign by using the stamps in the set, and then drawing on the hangars with a black Stampin’ Write marker. I also decorated the inside of this card, which is something I always forget to do! But it really pulls the whole card together, and it definitely adds the perfect touch that ties the outside with the inside.
I would highly recommend adding this stamp set and punch to your craft collection! It really is so versatile and cheerful, I think you will love it.
