Holy Guacamole, it’s your birthday! Isn’t that a fun, catchy phrase for your card front?! It totally makes me smile! And once you add these adorable little avocados and a few tortilla chips, who could resist this cute little birthday card??
I used the Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper to make this simple little gatefold card. Start with a 5 ½” x 8 ½” sheet of Basic White cardstock, and score it at 2 ⅛” and 6 ⅜”. Now you have a gatefold card base, simple as that! Add this cute pattern of Granny Apple Green DSP onto the flaps, and you’re ready to layer on your focal piece.
I cut out a circle for the medallion, using the Stylish Shapes dies (my favorite dies in the catalog!). Then I stamped the bowl of guacamole and the avocado onto the circle, using Black Memento ink. I colored everything in with our fantastic Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers, which instantly make me look like an artist! I absolutely love our Stampin’ Blends. But…the cutest part of this whole card is the little winking face on the avocado! The stamp set has several little faces in it, and I chose to use the winking face for this avocado. HOW CUTE!!
Stamp a few tortilla chips onto scratch paper, color and cut them out, and add them for some cute accents. You CANNOT have a bowl of guacamole without some fresh, crunchy tortilla chips!
I layered the die cut circle onto the Granny Apple Green Decorative Circle punch, and then onto the long, skinny label that was cut out from the Seasonal Labels dies.
Watch the video where I made this card, and you’ll be able to see how fun it is to make. I just love it!
The final touch on this card is how I made the twine accent behind the medallion. I cut a piece of the Silver-Threaded Twine, and then gently picked apart the entire piece. It gave me several strands of twine, as well as a thin piece of silver. I took a few twine pieces, as well as the silver piece, and laid them onto the long label before finishing with the guacamole medallion. Doesn’t it add just the perfect touch??
I really think you’ll need to grab this stamp set and go wild! There is so much you can do with it, you will be so glad you got it. And when you do, please share! I’d love to see what your creativity has come up with!
