I love that the Cheerful Daisy stamp set by Stampin’ Up! can be used for daisies AND black-eyed Susans! These flowers are in bloom all over my yard right now, celebrating the end of summer with a beautiful show. They grow really well here in the Pacific Northwest, and I enjoy them immensely!
I used fall colors on this card, and I wanted to feature an easy background technique using our Foursquare Decorative Masks. There is so much you can do with masks, but this features the most basic, easiest technique. Have you tried using our masks before?
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. You can see, from start to finish, exactly how I did it.
I started off by making my background. I laid the mask directly onto my cardstock, and grabbed my blending brush. I layered more and more ink, reinking my brush several times, until it was as dark as I wanted it to be. The subtle, tone-on-tone Crumb Cake ink looked beautiful, and it was exactly the look I was aiming for.
After adding this piece onto my card base, I stamped some of the daisies onto Very Vanilla cardstock, using Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso inks. I die cut them out using the coordinating Cheerful Daisies dies, which was easy and quick! And then I layered them onto the card after adding some stems and leaves that were stamped directly onto the card base with Mossy Meadow ink.
It’s easy to make a quick sentiment tag, and I layered this onto the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Do you like this tone-on-tone color palette? Do you ever make cards like that? Personally, I love it and use this look often.
I chose to use two different ribbons, both the Wavy Trim and the Silver Threaded Twine. I love both of these for Fall, and I love to “pick apart” the twine into many thin strands to make it look more shabby and “messy.”
I hope you love this card, and that you give it a try! Grab some of our masks and dive in!
