Don’t you love a card that is stunning, yet easy to make? That is exactly what this card delivers! I used the new Cheerful Daisies stamp set, along with the matching dies, to make this pretty card. I feel like this card is easy enough, yet beautiful enough, to make a set of them to give as a gift. Wouldn’t it be nice to make a pack of 6 of these cards, and bundle them together with a beautiful bow? It would make a perfect hostess gift, a lovely gesture for your hairstylist, or a perfect birthday gift for a friend!
Let’s dive in!
First of all, I used our Blending Brushes with the Blueberry Bushel ink pad. Because this color is so dark and saturated, when you dip your blending brush into the ink, be sure to dab it off onto scratch paper first, before blending onto your card. If you don’t, you’ll end up with dark blotches all over your cardstock! After blotting off the blending brush, start blending the ink onto your Basic White cardstock in a circular motion, around and around and around until the background looks as dark as you’d like. You could even blend a couple of different blue colors here, if you’d like, but I kept it simple by just using one color.
It would probably look gorgeous to use colors that would simulate a sunset here, wouldn’t it? Maybe starting with a yellow in the middle, and then moving out to a pink around the outer edges. Then layering the white daisies on top. I can picture it in my head! I might have to give it a try!
Check out the video where I showed how I made this card. You can see how dark the ink starts out on the blending brush, and then how I made it blend onto the background. It looks beautiful when it’s finished!
Let’s move on to the next step. I die cut out the largest daisy die from Basic White cardstock, and this die actually consists of three daisies. Using sponge daubers, I inked up the leaves and the centers of the daisies using the Garden Green and Daffodil Delight ink pads. It adds just the right amount of color to the flowers, and it’s such an easy way to color them!
Next, I adhered the daisies to the blue background that I made with the blending brush. The blue background really makes the white daisies pop!
I added the sentiment using the Blueberry Bushel ink pad again, and finally sprinkled on a few gems to give the card a little sparkle. I used the Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels, along with the Adhesive-Backed Solid Gems. What a beautiful combination on that blue background! The gems might even look a bit like dew drops on the card.
I hope you’ll grab your blending brush and give this background technique a try! It’s really so easy, and yet yields a beautiful result. If you end up trying a different color combination for your background, be sure to share! I’d love to see.
