It’s summertime! And one of my favorite places in the world is the beach. I’m from the Pacific Northwest, and the Pacific Ocean coast is only about an hour or so from my house. We go to the beach whenever we feel like it! Granted, it is chilly…but, I’ll take what I can get! The crashing of the waves is completely entrancing to me. I can sit and stare at the ocean for hours, basking in the beauty of it all. What about you? Do you love the beach?
The Waves of Inspiration stamp set, along with its coordinating dies, are awesome. I truly haven’t used them as much as I should! The large wave stamp all by itself is awesome, super detailed and realistic. But when paired with the die that overlaps it, WOW. It really is amazing.
For this card, I used one of the sheets of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Bright & Beautiful paper pack. It is a washed, watercolored blue look that is perfect for the ocean. The sheet of paper is Azure Afternoon, and it looks perfect when paired with Blueberry Bushel ink. That is the ink that I used for stamping the huge wave, and I just love it.
Next, I die cut out the detailed wave die from the coordinating die set. I used Basic White cardstock, and then, using a Sponge Dauber, I sponged on some Smoky Slate ink here and there to give the wave some variegated color. Waves are usually full of foam, so I definitely wanted to add some variation of color to my wave detail. Don’t you think it looks great?
Please CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. You can see exactly how I layered everything and how I sponged the waves and clouds, and then put the entire card together.
The die set is so great. It comes with clouds, as well as birds! I used the cloud dies to cut out several clouds, and sponged them also using the Smoky Slate ink. It really helped to give some detail to the clouds, don’t you think?
The sentiment was stamped onto another great die in the set, that label die. I pulled out my Metallic Woven Ribbon (Starry Sky colored), and frayed the ends and added it to the tag. It gave some nice sparkle to the card front.
I finished off the card by decorating the inside. I stamped the sentiment with the matching Blueberry Bushel ink pad, and added the birds with Memento Black ink. Don’t you think it’s perfect?
You won’t be sorry if you grab this stamp set and coordinating die set! Especially now, while it’s summertime. Check out the list below to see all of the products I used for this card, and grab what you need!
