My son’s wedding is coming up in a week…I can’t believe it’s finally here! And, of course, my role is to put on the rehearsal dinner. Because the wedding is across the country from me, the easiest way to host a large dinner is to hold it in a restaurant or get it catered, which is what we’re doing! The caterers asked that I find a way to designate whether the person chose the chicken or beef dish. I happily complied with my own version of simple name cards! I’m sure they haven’t ever seen something quite like this, but hey…they’re adorable, aren’t they?!?
I used the Cutest Cow stamp set and coordinating punch to make the little cows. First, I stamped the body with Black Memento ink onto Basic White cardstock, and then colored in the spots with my Basic Black Stampin’ Blends. Then, I used the matching punch to punch him out.
Next, I stamped the head, also using Black Memento ink onto Basic White cardstock, and colored it in with Basic Black and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends markers. I punched it out with the matching punch, and then stuck it to the body using a Stampin’ Dimensional. Didn’t they turn out cute?
The base of the name tags is Soft Succulent cardstock, which is a retired color. I bought a big pile of this cardstock before it disappeared, because I found out that one of their main wedding colors was going to be a Sage Green color. Perfect!! This is the base for these place cards.
For the chicken, I used a very old (but adorable!!), retired stamp set from Stampin’ Up! called Hey, Chick! It was a freebie stamp set during Sale-A-Bration several years ago. I am a chicken lady, so of course I have hung onto this stamp set all these years! I pulled it out and made the chickens in the same way I made the cows.
First, I stamped them using Black Memento ink onto Basic White cardstock. Then, I colored them in using several different Stampin’ Blends markers: Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, and Pumpkin Pie. PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I colored this chicken. You can learn exactly how I blended all of these colors together to create this awesome blended effect on the feathers!
I hope that these simple little place cards bring a smile to our guests’ faces! I know they surely brought a smile to mine!
