Our yard is full of flowers. I love them so much! In the summertime, it fills me with such joy to sit outside on my back patio, looking at all of my beautiful flowers and enjoying the sunshine. THAT is my happy place.
One of the perennial flowers that fills in lots of the empty spaces in our yard is our Black-Eyed Susans. They are like miniature sunflowers! They are so beautiful, and they bloom later in the summer than many of the other flowers. It is a joy when they burst forth with their bright yellows, browns, and rusts!
Today’s card uses the Cheerful Daisies stamp set, which easily doubles as Black-Eyed Susans instead of daisies. If you color the daisies with shades of yellow, it turns it into a completely different look! PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card, and you can see exactly how I colored in the flowers to blend the colors together. This card was a direct inspiration from our Annual Catalog, on page 130. I just changed up the colors a little bit, and it completely changed the look of the card!
The card base measures 4-1/4″ x 11″, folded in half (Basic White cardstock). I layered on top of that a piece of the “denim” looking printed Designer Series Paper from the Country Lace paper pack. This piece measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Navy blue and yellow look so good together, I knew that this card would turn out beautifully.
The white “frame” in the background of the card is from the Wildflower Designs die set. This set of dies has some beautiful “frames” in it, ones that you could use with all kinds of different cards! I glued this Basic White cardstock piece onto the card base using Liquid Glue.
Next, I stamped the daisies onto Basic White cardstock, using Early Espresso ink. I colored them in using my Stampin’ Blends markers–my favorite!!–in the colors Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. Then, I die cut them out using the matching dies.
The leaves were stamped with Old Olive ink and die cut out, and then I also added some of the little “stems” that were die cut out directly from Old Olive cardstock. I adhered all of these to the card base using Liquid Glue, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin’ Seal, and Stampin’ Dimensionals. This really helped the whole splash of flowers have lots of different height and dimension, which I love.
I die cut out the little tag for the sentiment from the Autumn Leaves die set, but you could really use anything you have that’s a similar shape. I stamped the sentiment, from the Cheerful Daisies stamp set, onto Crushed Curry cardstock, using Early Espresso ink.
The final touch was a few of the navy gems from the Opal Rounds Assortment, which added the perfect touch!
