I don’t enjoy having to make sympathy cards, but it’s definitely something that has to be done. Today, it was a pleasure to pull out my beautiful Changing Leaves die set, along with the gorgeous Gold Mercury Vellum paper, to make a fall-themed, elegant sympathy card for a friend.
The 3D Hybrid Embossing folder is an amazing product, and I honestly think that it needs to be in everyone’s stash! It embosses AND cuts at the same time, creating these gorgeous leaves that I just keep staring at. They are so beautiful! I used the Gold Mercury Vellum paper to cut and emboss tons of leaves, and have them on my desk to add to cards during this autumn season. Today’s card was perfect!
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. It’s actually a very simple card, but the gorgeous papers and die cuts really put it over the top.
The card base I used is a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, measuring 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and folded in half. Layered on top of this is a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, measuring 3-3/4″ x 4-3/4″. And finally, layered on top of that is a piece of the Gold Mercury Vellum paper, measuring 3-5/8″ x 4-5/8″. Just these layers alone make the card stunning!
I die cut the sentiment piece from a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock, using one of the dies from the Unbounded Love dies. There are some GORGEOUS dies in this set!! I love it! Then, I heat embossed the sympathy sentiment onto it, using the Gold WOW Embossing Powder and Versamark ink. This sentiment is from the Country Flowers stamp set.
I die cut several leaves from the Changing Leaves die set, using Very Vanilla cardstock and Gold Foil cardstock, and layered them randomly behind the sentiment. I also added some of the beautiful Woven Gold Leaves into the mix, which really added a fantastic texture.
Finally, I added a knot of the beautiful Wild Wheat Rustic Striped ribbon, attaching it with a Mini Glue Dot. Even though this is called Wild Wheat, it really comes off as a Gold color when you pair it with Gold! I love that!
Didn’t this card turn out beautifully?? I can’t say enough about it. I absolutely love it. It’s time to make a stack of sympathy cards, so that I’ll have them on hand when I need them.
