I’m finally starting to admit that Fall is on its way…and it will be here shortly! It’s taken me awhile to get here, as it does every year. Living in the Pacific Northwest, I know that Fall and Winter mean RAIN…so I’m never quite ready to say goodbye to Summer! But alas, here we are!
I actually DO love creating and crafting for Fall, however! It’s one of my favorite seasons to decorate and craft for. So it was fun to pull out the Autumn Leaves stamp set and play with it, using the “paper strip” technique that I used a few months ago! I’ll link that at the bottom of my post so that you can see this same technique, using a different embossing folder and different cardstock colors. It will, hopefully, give you inspiration to use this layout technique in your own crafting!
Today’s card base starts with a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock, measuring 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and folded in half. Layered on top of this is a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″.
For the paper strips, I started out with a thin piece of copy paper from my printer, cut down to 3-3/4″ x 5″. I used copy paper so that this layer wouldn’t get too thick. Layered onto this copy paper are 5 strips of cardstock, all measuring 3/4″ x 5″. I used (from left to right): Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, and Mossy Meadow. I glued these to the copy paper layer using Liquid Glue.
Next, I put this entire sheet into my Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder, and ran it through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. It will show you exactly how I made this card, step by step! I love this embossing folder…the leaves are beautiful! By running these paper strips through an embossing folder, it gave the card so much depth and texture!
Before adhering this layer onto the card front, I wrapped a piece of Pecan Pie Center Striped Ribbon around it, and tied a knot. It goes perfectly with this card, because it is ivory ribbon, matching perfectly with the Very Vanilla used in the cardstock.
I stamped the sentiment onto one of the dies in the Autumn Leaves die set, using Cajun Craze ink, and layered it onto the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. And finally, I die cut out several leaves from this die set, using the Gold Mercury Vellum. It’s gorgeous!! I tucked several of these leaves behind the sentiment piece, and attached them with Mini Glue Dots.
To finish off the card, I stamped one of the leaves onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″, with Cajun Craze ink.
PLEASE CLICK HERE to visit the other card I made using this same technique! It’s equally amazing!
