It’s time for the April Creativity Abounds Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from all around the world who are here to share our creative ideas with you. We hope to inspire you this month with TECHNIQUES! You may be starting here, or you may have come from someone else’s blog. Either way, there is a list at the end of this post to help you “hop” to all the different blogs and get many amazing ideas. We all have our countries listed, so if you are looking for a demonstrator in your country, we would love to help you with your Stampin’ Up! shopping or if you would like to join our Stampin’ Up! teams!
This month’s theme is all different kinds of “techniques,” and I’m really excited about the HUGE tutorial that you can get as an instant download in my Made to Create store! I know you’re going to love it.
For today’s blog post, I made a fun card using the Shadowing technique, and I love how it turned out. I featured the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set, which I have really enjoyed playing with this year, and the Shadowing Technique is the same technique that I have featured in this month’s tutorial.

To make the card base, I started out with an 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Berry Burst cardstock, folded in half. Then, I ripped off about 2″ of the card front. I then added 3 strips of the Beautiful Bokeh Designer Series Paper (DSP), all approximately 3/4″ x 4-1/4″ wide, ripped on one edge. I love the effect that it makes on the card front, don’t you?

Next, did the Shadowing Technique all over the rest of the card front, using the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set. Like I mentioned earlier, I teach this technique in this month’s tutorial pack, so I really encourage you to grab it! You’ll learn so much!

I also added a sentiment circle, which is a die cut from the Happy Hibiscus die set, stamped with Berry Burst ink. I also die cut out one of the little butterflies from the DSP, and added it onto the card front to give it some texture.
I love how the Gold Open Weave ribbon looks on this card…I think it gives the perfect amount of glitz and glam, pulling it all together. Especially after I added a few of the gold Sparkle Gems!

I also added a piece of Basic White cardstock to the inside of the card, stamping the images with Berry Burst and Fresh Freesia ink pads. And, voila! The card is finished!
