The Changing Leaves stamp set is so beautiful! I love that you can use it with Fall colors, as well use it for cards that have colors that are really “different.” This card today uses colors that I normally wouldn’t use with leaf images, yet it is absolutely gorgeous the way it comes together!
Today’s card was inspired by a card I received from another demonstrator. I changed up the ribbon and some of the colors, and voila! Here is a gorgeous card that is perfect for the Fall season, but also for any time of year.
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. It is really quite easy, yet its end result is so beautiful!
The card base is Soft Seafoam, 4-1/4″ x 11″ and folded in half. This color of green is so light and airy, I just love it. It makes a great base for the contrasting Mellow Moss, a darker green that is layered directly on top of the card base. This piece measures 3-3/4″ x 4-3/4″. Finally, layered on top of that is a piece of Basic White cardstock, just slightly smaller so that the Mellow Moss peaks out of the edges.
All of the stamping is done on the Basic White piece of cardstock. I used Soft Seafoam, Mellow Moss, and Lost Lagoon inks to stamp the various leaves. On the big leaves, I also used a Mellow Moss Blends marker to outline the main veins of the leaves to give it an accent. It really adds a pop!
Layered on top of the card is a 1-1/2″ strip of Lost Lagoon cardstock, which has been embossed with the Changing Leaves 3D Hybrid Embossing Folder. I can’t tell you how much I love this folder!! The leaves are so detailed and beautiful…I have used it over and over again this season. The ribbon accent on top of this strip is the Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon, with the edges tucked underneath the card, and finally the sentiment is layered on top. The sentiment was stamped with Mellow Moss ink, and layered on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Can you see that there is also a tiny bit of Linen Thread underneath? It adds a touch of natural texture to the card that really looks great.
I love how this card looks, and I love this color scheme!! I hope you do, too!

I’m so thrilled that you’re getting inspiration for home decor!! Not everyone likes making it, so I love it when there’s someone else out there who also enjoys repurposing things for home decor use. Yay!! I’m SO GLAD you’re loving your SU products…I agree, our papers are some of the most beautiful out there! And I LOVE that they coordinate with our stamps and dies. This is a beautiful card! I love the colors. How do you dye the ribbon? I have not done that before.
Lisa Bowden says
Thank you so much, Kelly!! This card doesn’t have any dyed ribbon…it just comes pure white like I used here! Is there a different card you’re referring to? For this particular frayed grosgrain ribbon, it’s fun to use your Blends markers to color it! I have another card I’ve made where I colored this ribbon with my Cajun Craze Blends markers, and it works wonderfully!!

Sorry, when I looked at the card this morning, I thought the Lost Lagoon cardstock was ribbon. I see the white ribbon now, 😁

OK, I’m glad we figured that out! But truly, there is another Fall card I made where I colored this ribbon with my Blends markers. It’s easy to do with any of our lighter colored ribbon (obviously especially white)! You should definitely give it a try!
