Make a Memory Birthday Fun Fold Card - Creativity Abounds Blog Hop

It’s time for the December Creativity Abounds Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from all around the world who are here to share our creative ideas with you. We hope to inspire you this month with tons of different BIRTHDAY projects! You may be starting here, or you may have come from someone else’s blog. Here is the project I created for the exclusive tutorial. Isn’t it FUN?? I used the new Creative Haven products to make this Fun Fold, and I know you’ll love making it! This is just a sample of the great projects included in this month’s tutorial!

For today’s blog post, I made an Angled Fun Fold Birthday Card! I used the DARLING “Make a Memory” Scrapbooking Kit, and I’ve totally become addicted to these kits. We used one of these for our Great North American Stampin’ Show Retreat in a Box this past October, and we created the most AMAZING things using only the items in the scrapbooking kit! Each kit has tons of awesome printed papers, ephemera die cuts, and stickers! Add to it a few embellishments like gems and ribbon…and voila! The possibilities are truly endless!

Now, back to today’s project. LOL! I used papers only from this kit, including the white cardstock. I created this amazing “angled” fun fold card, and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out.

I started out with Cloud Cover cardstock, measuring 5-1/2″ x 11″. This piece is scored at 3-3/8″ in from both ends. Next, I slid the cardstock into my paper trimmer, on the short end, and measured 4-1/4″ and made a “notch” (or you can use a pencil to make a mark) at this point. Then I slid the paper at a slant, so that I could line up the notch, as well as the center score line, and cut off a triangle. I did the same exact method on the right-hand side.

Next, I cut 2 pieces of the darling DSP, measuring 3-1/8″ x 5-1/4″. I laid the printed paper onto the left-hand front panel, when the card was folded closed, and then slid the paper up so that the corner matched the cardstock. This is a picture using different paper, but the concept is the same. Then I turned this over and trimmed off this triangle. When you slide it back down into place, you have a piece that is exactly the correct slant! It works so well! PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch this concept, on a completely different project. But, the method for how to get these corners trimmed off is exactly the same.

The inside of this card has a piece of Basic White cardstock, which is also from the scrapbooking kit, measuring 4″ x 5-1/2″. I used a few pieces of the ephemera from the kit to decorate the inside, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The outside of the card is also decorated using ephemera pieces from the kit! Aren’t they CUTE?? Some are die cuts, and some are stickers. I LOVE how bright and cheery this birthday card is!!

The ribbon at the top was sliced into lots of strips, after threading it through the top of the tag. I love how this looks! And finally, I added a few of the Dear Dots gems for the finishing touch.
