Turtle-y Cute Off Center Gatefold Card

The Turtle-y Cute Designer Series Paper (DSP) by Stampin’ Up! continues to make me smile. I did not buy the stamp set for this suite, but I “had” to buy the paper because the images make me laugh! I think it’s so cute for summer and FUN, so I made a cute Gatefold Card today that I think you’ll enjoy.

This card design is an off-set Gatefold Card. Instead of folding in the center, it folds off to one side, which is a fun twist on the traditional Gatefold Card layout. Do you like it? I started off with an 8-½” x 5-1/2” piece of Garden Green cardstock for this card base. I scored it at 1-1/2″, and 5-3/4″. Then I added the DSP designs that I liked to the card front, and I like using two different prints that contrast but look good together. The turtle shell design measures 1-3/8″ x 5-1/4″, and the striped design measures 2-5/8″ x 5-3/8″.

The main focal point of this card was made using the Stylish Shapes dies, and I die cut a circle out of Granny Green cardstock. I used the 2-3/8″ Circle Punch to punch out a Basic White circle to layer onto this, and I shaded some color onto it using my Blending Brushes. I added some Balmy Blue to the “sky” area, and Garden Green for some “grass.” I layered this circle onto the Granny Apple Green circle using Liquid Glue.

I used my Paper Snips to cut out this hilarious little turtle, picnic basket, and watermelon slice, and added these onto the circle using both Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals. Doesn’t it look cute?!! I finally adhered the entire circle to the right-hand flap of the card. When you make this card, take care not to put adhesive on the entire circle…you will glue your card closed!

I die cut out one of the banners from the Stylish Shapes dies, and stamped the sentiment using Garden Green ink from the Jolly Holly stamp set. I think it looks great!

The final touch was adding a few of the Hexagon gems, which are the coolest little embellishments! And a little dovetailed piece of the green ribbon, which matches this entire product suite.
