I needed to make a sympathy card today, so I pulled out my embossing folders and made a card that is really pretty, but it’s a very easy layout to reproduce for any occasion. Pull out whatever embossing folders you have, and let’s get to work!

I used Night of Navy cardstock for my card base, measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″ and folded in half. Layered on top of that is a piece of Basic Beige cardstock, measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. Finally, I layered a piece of the Country Lace Designer Series Paper (DSP) on top of that, measuring 3-3/4″ x 5″. Before layering on the DSP piece, I took my scissors and distressed the edges of it, to add some texture and interest. PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card, and you can see exactly how I distressed the edges.
I punched out 3 circles, using my 2-3/8″ Circle Punch. I used Boho Blue, Night of Navy, and Petal Pink cardstocks. I embossed each circle with a different embossing folder: So Swirly, Exposed Brick, and Eyelet. Choose any folders you have, and mix them up! It really creates a neat look with lots of visual interest.

Next, I layered on a greenery die cut that I cut out of Basic Beige cardstock, using the Friends for Life dies. And finally, I stamped the sentiment from the Quiet Reflection stamp set onto a little scrap of Basic Beige cardstock, using Night of Navy ink.

I embellished this card with some Linen Thread, some of the Gold Twisted Thread, and then some Metallic Gems. I wanted some embellishments, but I didn’t want them to overpower the message of the card.
I hope you’ll give this card layout a try, with whatever embossing folders you have on hand!
