I can’t believe I pulled out some darker, Fall colors today, but I did!! I saw the Layering Leaves stamp set in my cupboard, and thought that this card would be super cute so I couldn’t resist. I think that you could easily use lighter greens and recreate this card with more of a Summer or Spring theme in mind, so I hope you’ll give it a try!
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. It’s a good one, and really easy to make!
This card started out with a basic 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Basic White card base, folded in half. Next, I covered the entire card front with a piece of woodgrain-looking Designer Series Paper, from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. There are several different “wood” looks in that pack, and I think you could use it for all kinds of different backgrounds!
Next, I stamped several different leaf images from the Layering Leaves stamp set onto cardstock, using the Versamark ink pad. I love this ink pad, because if you watch the video, you can see that when I stamp on each different cardstock color, it makes it look like I’m using that matching ink color. But, I’m not! The Versamark pad is an invaluable resource in my craft stash! I stamped the leaves onto Garden Green, Wild Wheat, and Early Espresso cardstocks.
I pulled out my Bough punch, which is one of my favorites! I use it ALL the time when I’m layering up leafy looks with florals or naturals. The punch matches perfectly with the leaf images in this stamp set. I punched out the various leaves, as well as some of the smaller leaf images.
For the tag on this card, I used the brand new Greetings of the Season dies, which I think I will be using a LOT!! The tags in this set are amazing, and there is a huge variety of sizes and shapes. I stamped the sentiment onto the tag using Early Espresso ink, using a phrase from the Layering Leaves stamp set.
I put some strips of Stampin’ Seal onto the back of the tag, and then arranged the various leaves so that they stuck to the back of the tag. It worked perfectly! And then I adhered this tag to the card front, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally, I added a little bow to the tag using our Pecan Pie Center Stripe Ribbon, as well as some of our Linen Thread (one of my must-haves!!). This finished off the card perfectly, blending all of the different natural, Earthy tones together.
What do you think? I love the way this card came together. You’ll have to let me know if you give it a try!
