Today’s card was directly inspired from the Sale-A-Bration 2024 catalog! I love that our catalogs have so many full-color, gorgeous samples in them. You can just copy your projects straight out of the catalogs, without even having to think! It really helps, especially if you’re short on time or having a block in your creativity. It’s also a way to see really cool color inspiration, as Stampin’ Up!’s artists are FULL of amazing color combination ideas! I am continually amazed!
The Jungle Pals stamp set and coordinating dies are some of the FREEBIES you can earn during Sale-A-Bration (SAB) 2024. For every $50 USD that you spend in my Stampin’ Up! store, you can choose one of these freebies! Check out the SAB catalog to see all of the awesome things you can choose for free this year. Don’t forget that these items are first-come, first-served…when they’re gone, they’re gone!
Today’s project has a Basic White cardstock base, just a typical 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece folded in half. On top of that is layered another piece that measures 3-3/4″ x 5″. Easy peasy!
PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch the video where I made this card. You can see exactly how I colored the sloths, as well as how I made the background.
To make the background, I used the Balmy Blue stamp pad, as well as our fantastic Blending Brushes. These are so soft, and perfect for blending color into the cardstock. For the best effect, as you can see in the video, I start rubbing OFF of the cardstock first, then I worked my way onto the paper so that I didn’t get any harsh lines. I rubbed and rubbed, until I got the look I wanted–like a lightly cloudy, blue sky.
Next, I die cut out some of the jungle vines with the Jungle Pals dies, using Garden Green and Granny Apple Green cardstock. I glued them down to the sky background, using Liquid Glue.
I stamped the sloths onto scraps of Basic White cardstock, using my Black Memento ink pad. I colored them in using some of our Neutrals Blends markers: Medium Light 800, Medium 500, and Medium 600. If you notice in the video, I went out of the lines a couple of times. So, I grabbed my Color Lifter Blend, and wiped away those boo boo’s! That marker is a life saver! It basically “erases,” or “lifts,” the color away from the cardstock! It’s amazing.
Anyway, after coloring in the cute sloths, I die cut them out with the coordinating dies. I then stuck them to the jungle vines, using Stampin’ Dimensionals. So, my question to you would be…have you ever seen sloths in person? They’re so cute in this stamp set, but in person, they’re kind-of stinky and dirty, like a raccoon or a weasel! Ha ha! I’ve been to Costa Rica a few times, and we’ve seen these guys in person all over the place. But from far away, they are definitely cute!
I stamped the sentiment from the Heartfelt Hellos stamp set, which is another freebie from the SAB catalog. I stamped it with the Black Memento ink onto Basic White cardstock, and bannered the edge. Then I stuck it onto my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
And voila! The card is finished! It’s so simple, yet fantastic, don’t you think?
