I love the Nordic look of the blues and whites in the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper. Each side of the paper has its own unique design, and yet it all blends together beautifully! That’s why this card design came to mind. It was the perfect style to make with this paper, and it reminds me a lot of a quilt!
My aunt was a very gifted quilter. She gave my husband and I a quilt for our wedding gift, and I have treasured it all through the years! After she passed away last year, I was given another one of her quilts that now sits on the bed in my guest bedroom. It completely reminds me of this entire look, don’t you think? I absolutely love it, and it makes me smile every time I see it. I think of her and her passion and extreme talent for color and design. She was a very precious woman in my life!
I used six 1” x 5” strips of paper for this card. Each strip was torn on one side, and then layered slightly on top of the other strip as I made my way from right to left. Hop over and watch the video where I made this card, and it will help to explain exactly how I made this background. It’s really simple, and I can see all sorts of different paper designs used in this same way! I love how the torn edge also gives the card some texture, instead of the paper just laying flat on the card. What do you think? Isn’t it beautiful?
After laying down the strips onto my Night of Navy cardstock, I layered it onto a Boho Blue card base. The Boho Blue color is all throughout these paper designs, and the Night of Navy is the perfect accent color!
For the sentiment, I used the Go To Greetings stamp set, and the Boho Blue ink pad. I punched it out using the Double Oval punch, which is one of my go-to punches! It’s such an easy way to add the perfect touch to the sentiment, layering it up without having to use anything except this one punch!
I added a small strip of the Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon, which looks a lot like denim. It has a tiny bit of sparkle on the edges of the ribbon, so it really was the perfect ribbon to use on this card.
Finally, I sprinkled on a couple of the Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels, which added just the right touch of white. And that’s it! What do you think? What other patterns of our Designer Series Paper can you see made with this same type of card design? I’d love for you to share.
If you love this card, I hope you’ll check out the Notebook that I made using this same Designer Series Paper! It’s sooooo beautiful!
