I keep using the Taco Fiesta stamp set to create cute cards, because there is just so much you can do with it! The possibilities are endless, because of all of the little parts and pieces included. This is the million dollar stamp set designed by Erica Cerwin, and she did such an incredible job thinking of so many details to add to the set. By far, my favorite details are the little faces that you can add to the images!
This card is bright and cheerful, and to add to that “sunshine” look, I used the new Radiating Stitches dies from our Online Exclusives. Have you checked them out yet? When you pass the largest one through the die cut machine, it cuts your cardstock, but it doesn’t cut it “out” all the way. It cuts the “sunshine rays” out, which just adds such a cool look around the outside edge of the card!
Check out the video where I made this card. It shows you step-by-step how I put this card together. It’s not a difficult card to make, by any means, but there are a few steps I did to pull the card together!
I started out by stamping the cactus stamp all over the background using Versamark ink. I love this ink pad–there is so much you can do with it! When you just stamp with it, it creates a tone-on-tone (monotone) look. Can you see how those cacti are stamped on the Daffodil Delight cardstock, but it looks like I used Daffodil Delight ink? It makes a lovely background without it being too loud or overly dark.
Next, I stamped the cactus with Shaded Spruce onto Soft Sea Foam cardstock, and cut him out. I added the ADORABLE mustache face…how could I resist??! Seriously, once you add the mustache, it makes the entire card!! And, it makes me giggle every time I look at it!
Next, I stamped the sombrero onto Basic White cardstock, using Black Memento ink. I colored it in with my favorite markers, the Stampin’ Blends. I used Daffodil Delight, Shaded Spruce, and Real Red. I wanted to use lots of bright colors! I cut out the hat and adhered it to the top of his little head using a Mini Glue Dot, which worked perfectly without making the mess of using liquid glue.
I love how the little circle of the Radiating Stitches dies pulls the center of the card together. I cut this out of the Daffodil Delight cardstock as well, and added it on top of the Decorative Circle medallion that I punched out of Shaded Spruce cardstock. When you layer up this focal point onto the front of the card, and add Mr. Cactus with a Stampin’ Dimensional, doesn’t it just put a smile on your face??
Finally, I stamped the sentiment with Shaded Spruce ink onto Basic White cardstock, trimmed it, and layered it onto my card front. I had added a “double bow” underneath it, using the 2022-24 In Color Bakers Twine, which added the perfect red accent. I felt like gems would have been the wrong embellishment for this card, but the twine was absolutely perfect. Don’t you love how it pulls the colors together?
I hope you’ll give this card a try. It was a fun one to make, and I think I’m going to get lots of use out of these adorable Radiating Stitches dies! This was the first time I had used them, and I think I’m really going to enjoy them!
