Do you ever need to whip out a quick, yet cute, card without too much time and detail? This card fits the bill perfectly! I was able to pull out the Cottage Wreaths stamp set and turn it into a Spring-themed card, instead of using it for a Fall/Winter card. If you look at the images in this stamp set, you’ll see that it definitely looks like it was made for Fall and Winter. But this design shows you how you can use your stamps in a huge variety of ways to switch things up and make them useful year ‘round.
I used the Granny Apple Green ink pad, accented with Melon Mambo. Who doesn’t love this bright and cheery color combination? I stamped the wreath onto one of the squares from the Stylish Shapes Dies, which are one of my favorite die sets in the entire catalog. A staple product, for sure! I advise that everyone own them!
The other item I used on this card is the Petal Park Builder punch, which punches out several sizes of flowers and a leaf. I love this punch! I punched out several small-sized flowers and several leaves from the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper. There are a couple of sheets in that paper pack that have some amazing watercolor-washed looking patterns, and that is what I used here. These patterns really give the flowers and some texture without having to stamp anything at all!
In this close-up picture, can you see the color variation on this wreath? The Cottage Wreaths stamp set is part of the amazing “Distinktive” stamp line, which has images in the stamp set that create different opacities in the stamped images. Isn’t it the coolest look! We have several stamp sets that are part of the Distinktive line, and I always get compliments on how amazing they make the images look. After stamping the wreath, I layered on these simple little flowers and leaves. Then I added the Opal Rounds to the centers of the flowers, which gave the perfect amount of sparkle to the front of the card.
Finally, I added a bow to the wreath. I used our beautiful Natural Finish ⅞” Ribbon, but it was way too fat for this petite wreath! No problem…I trimmed the ribbon in half lengthwise, making it thinner and perfectly sized for this little wreath. I even roughed up the edge of the ribbon, because I love that tattered, shabby look. Check out the video where I made this card, and it will help you to see exactly what I did with the ribbon to achieve this look. What do you think? Doesn’t it add the perfect touch to this card?
I think you could use a variety of color combinations and make entire set of these darling, simple cards! I think Gorgeous Grape would be beautiful, as well as Daffodil Delight and Tahitian Tide. Pull out the darling Cottage Wreaths Stamp Set and give it a try! I know you’ll enjoy them as much as I do.
